FAQs

How long is a course?

How much is a course?

Is it OK if I miss a class?

Most students end up missing occasional classes over the duration of a term for one reason or another. We make sure that anyone who misses a class is always kept up to date via our online learning material and class notes which correspond to the things we cover in class. You will never fall behind. We also always review previous classes at the start of each new class before moving on and students can also ask their teacher questions any time between classes if they need to.

Are private classes or group classes better?

Local in-person group classes are the friendliest, funnest and most economical way to learn a foreign language. Our classes are a sociable night out with like-minded people from your local area who are up for a challenge.

Who is my teacher?

All our Spanish teachers are experienced, bilingual professionals. Once you have signed up for your course you will receive your teacher’s email and they will support you for the duration of your course, during and between classes. Your teacher will be ready and waiting for you at the venue at least 15 mins before each class.

What does this course cover?

We teach Spanish in 10-week terms from beginner to advanced level, one topic of the course per week. Take a look at the list of topics we teach throughout the course by clicking here.

Will I really be able to learn Spanish?

Yes, you will! Everyone can learn a foreign language and we know how to help you learn Spanish! You just have to stick at it.

Am I too old?

No, definitely not. We have taught students of all ages to understand and speak excellent Spanish. Learning a foreign language is a great workout for the brain and classes are sociable and fun. Our classes are ideal for older people.

Do I have to do homework?

No, you don’t. You will receive all you need in terms of learning material, tuition, support and opportunity to practice just by attending your weekly classes. However, if you are the kind of student who likes homework, we provide comprehensive, easy-to-follow online coursework for you to study during the week.

How good will my Spanish get?

By the end of the first course you will be able to understand and speak an impressive practical level of Spanish that will vastly improve any time spent in Spain or Latin America. If you complete the full course of 60 topics, you will have learned all of the important language structures, built confidence and fluency and attained a high level of Spanish that will wow locals!

Do I need to get any other learning material?

You should be regularly referring to a Spanish-English dictionary. This can be a book, app or website, whatever you find most comfortable. Apart from this we don’t recommend you use any other learning material as you can easily get bogged down and confused by too many books, apps, videos, mp3s, etc. We will provide you with all you need to learn Spanish.

What do I need to bring to class?

Your teacher will provide you with printed notes in each class and these will contain all the information you need to guide you through the particular topic in class. You can take your own notes, if you wish, but you don’t have to. The only thing that we would recommend you bring to each class is a Spanish-English dictionary app/book.

What size are the groups?

Groups are 10-20 students

I am nervous about signing up? Will I be the worst in the class?

Most people feel a little apprehensive about signing up for something new and are nervous before the first class. You are in good company! Don’t worry, give it a shot! And give yourself a big pat on the back. It’s great to challenge yourself and your teacher will look after you and support you through the course. You are very likely to surprise yourself at how good you are at learning Spanish!

How is the coursework presented?

Topics consists of clearly explained written information, pronunciation practice exercises, audio conversation listening exercises, reading comprehension exercises, interactive speaking exercises, and writing exercises. Course information is presented in English, with Spanish examples throughout. More and more Spanish content is introduced as students progress.

Are there courses progressing after beginner level?
Yes, we run 6 courses of 10 weeks from beginner to advanced level. Students can continue on after each 10 week term to the next stage of our course. After they have reached topic 60, they move onto conversation classes
Can I ask questions between classes?

Yes, you are very welcome to ask your teacher questions between classes any time by email.

I highly recommend Marchando Spanish. I am surprised at the speed we have learned things, so much so I can now feel much more confident in communicating when in Spain. It has been so nice to make new friends and acquaintances in our weekly meetings. For anyone who’s serious about learning Spanish, or even just for fun, there‘s no better way to learn

“Loving my Spanish classes. Great fun and learning way more than with Duolingo. Giving me more confidence to speak and I feel I have more understanding when I hear locals speak when I am in Spain.”

Before joining Marchando Spanish classes I used Duolingo. Since starting the first Marchando Spanish course I believe I have progressed by leaps & bounds. I am now looking forward to the next course. Thank you for all your support & help.
