FAQs

How long is a course?

Local group classes are 10-week terms which run throughout the year at specific times depending on the venue.

Private 1-1 online classes are taken in blocks of 5, 10, or 20 hours and you organise a convenient timetable with your tutor.

What is the price?

£129 for a 10-week term of local group classes.

Between £25-£35 per hour for private 1-1 online classes.

Are private classes or group classes better?

Both are great ways to learn a language, it depends what you are looking for. Local group classes are a fun, sociable night out with like-minded people and the most economical way to learn. Private online classes are more expensive but you receive tailor-made classes just for you and lots of time in each class to work on your conversation skills with a native Spanish-speaker.

What size are the groups?

Local group classes have 10-20 students

What is the syllabus?

We teach Spanish from beginner to advanced level, one topic of the course per class. Take a look at the list of topics by clicking here.

What learning material is provided?

Our learning material consists of clearly explained written information, pronunciation practice exercises, audio conversation listening exercises, reading comprehension exercises, interactive speaking exercises, and writing exercises. Course information is presented in English, with Spanish examples throughout. More and more Spanish content is introduced as students progress.

What do I need to bring to class?

The only thing that we would recommend you bring to each class is a Spanish-English dictionary app or book. You can take your own notes if you wish, but you don’t have to.

Can I ask questions between classes?

Yes, you are very welcome to ask your teacher questions between classes any time by email.

I am nervous about signing up. Will I embarrass myself?

Most people feel a little apprehensive about signing up for something new and are nervous before the first class. You are in good company! Don’t worry, give it a shot! And give yourself a big pat on the back. It’s great to challenge yourself and your teacher will look after you and support you through the course. You are very likely to surprise yourself at how good you are at learning Spanish!

Am I too old?

No, definitely not. We have taught students of all ages to understand and speak excellent Spanish. Learning a foreign language is a wonderful workout for the brain, great fun, and a brilliant achievement. Our classes are ideal for older people.

Will I really be able to learn Spanish?

Yes, you will! Everyone can learn a foreign language and we know how to help you learn Spanish! You just have to stick at it.

Who is my teacher?

All our Spanish teachers are experienced, bilingual professionals. Once you have signed up for your course you will receive your teacher’s email and they will support you for the duration of your course, during and between classes.

Are there courses available beyond beginner level?

Yes, we teach Spanish from beginner to advanced level following our 60-topic syllabus. Students who complete the 60 topics can then move on to purely conversation classes with a native Spanish-speaking tutor to fine-tune their fluency.

How good will my Spanish get?

By the end of the first 10 topics you will be able to understand and speak an impressive practical level of Spanish that will vastly improve any time spent in Spain or Latin America. If you complete the full course of 60 topics, you will have learned all of the important language structures, built confidence and fluency and attained a high level of Spanish that will wow locals!

I highly recommend Marchando Spanish. I am surprised at the speed we have learned things, so much so I can now feel much more confident in communicating when in Spain. It has been so nice to make new friends and acquaintances in our weekly meetings. For anyone who’s serious about learning Spanish, or even just for fun, there‘s no better way to learn

“Loving my Spanish classes. Great fun and learning way more than with Duolingo. Giving me more confidence to speak and I feel I have more understanding when I hear locals speak when I am in Spain.”

Before joining Marchando Spanish classes I used Duolingo. Since starting the first Marchando Spanish course I believe I have progressed by leaps & bounds. I am now looking forward to the next course. Thank you for all your support & help.

I wholeheartedly recommend learning Spanish with Marchando Spanish. I had always thought that it would be a difficult language to learn but I have been understanding the basics and confidently constructing conversational sentences in no time at all – and the course is lots of fun!
